Sparks, NV – Sparks City Manager Shaun Carey has announced Division Chief Tom Garrison as his choice to become the next Chief of the City’s Fire Department. Garrison will replace retiring Chief Andy Flock, who has held the position since April 2007.

Carey’s appointment of Garrison requires ratification by the Sparks City Council, which would be followed by a swearing-in ceremony upon confirmation, scheduled for the August 26 Sparks City Council Meeting. Garrison would become the 11th fire chief for the city.

“I am proud to appoint Division Chief Tom Garrison as the city’s next Fire Chief,” said Carey. “Chief Garrison is a seasoned and highly experienced firefighter who has worked his way through the ranks and is well respected by his peers. He has the knowledge and expertise to lead our professional team of firefighters who have dedicated their lives to keeping our residents safe every day,” said Carey.

Garrison joined the city of Sparks in June 1987 as a firefighter. He has since followed a career progression from firefighter to Fire Apparatus Operator to Captain and to Division Chief. Garrison’s current duties are focused on the administration and training functions for the city’s Fire Department.
