Reward Offered for Information on Attempted Robbery in Sparks

RENO, Nev. -- Sparks Police officials are asking for your help in finding the suspects in an attempted robbery. It happened on the 1200 block of El Rancho Drive just after 9:30pm on Friday, July 20th.

Investigators say they were called to the 7-Eleven where the 24-year-old victim ran for help. He told officers he had been on the sidewalk nearby when two men came up to him and demanded he hand over whatever he had in his pockets. When he refused, he said they threatened to shoot him.

That is when the victim tried to run into the street to either get help from a driver or to put a car between him and the would-be robbers. One of the men then hit him in the face, breaking a tooth and cutting his lip.

The suspects then ran away and jumped a wall into an apartment complex at 1855 El Rancho Drive.

Officials describe the man who hit the victim as an "Hispanic male in his 20's, approximately 5-8 to 5-10 with a muscular build and a goatee." He was wearing blue pants and a gray shirt. The second man is described as a "Caucasian male in his 20's, approximately 6-0 tall with a 'skinny' build." He was also had a gray shirt and was wearing a gray baseball cap.

Secret Witness is offering at $1000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect.
