RENO, NV - Southwest Airlines has announced it will stop service between Reno and Oakland beginning June 2, 2013.
A spokeswoman at Reno-Tahoe International Airport tells KOLO 8 News Now the reason is that not enough seats are being filled for the twice-a-day service, with planes only flying at about 55% capacity.
Airport officials have already started making calls to other airlines to see if anyone else is interested in picking up the service.
United Airlines still offers service to San Francisco, and San Jose is accessible via Alaska Airlines, which picked up that route after Southwest dropped it last year.
