INCLINE VILLAGE, NV - An additional suspect in the recent spree of burglaries in the North Lake Tahoe area has been arrested. Six guns were also recovered during the arrest.
According to Washoe County Sheriffs, 30-year-old Jason Greene was arrested as he was leaving a home near Corvallis and Edmonton Drive in south Reno Wednesday afternoon. A search of the home revealed two handguns and a shotgun.
Greene was identified as a suspect in the January burglary of an Incline home after detectives found several items from the home that were pawned by Greene at a local pawn shop. Further investigation found that Greene is an ex-felon and had previously pawned three guns. Under Federal and State laws, it is illegal for an ex-felon to have a gun. Police also viewed surveillance videos in which Greene is seen at Cabela's handling various guns.
Greene was convicted in 2006 by a Washoe County court for felony possession of narcotics.
He was arrested for twelve counts of Ex-Felon in Possession of a Firearm and a felony Failure to Appear warrant following the Reno Police Department's possession of a controlled substance case. Additional charges are forthcoming.
Detectives are working to locate the legitimate owners of the six guns.
They believe Greene was trading stolen property then pawning it to support his drug habit.
