KOLO 8 News Now has spoken to a person in the campaign who says Sharron Angle will not run for CD2.
Published reports say that Angle believes the Special Election is making a mockery of the election process.
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Four Republican candidates for Nevada's
2nd Congressional District House seat are scheduled to debate next
month in Reno.
The event is being sponsored by the Nevada Republican Assembly,
a conservative GOP organization that is not affiliated with the
state or county party.
A spokesman says tea party-backed Sharron Angle, state GOP
chairman Mark Amodei, state Sen. Greg Brower and retired Navy Cmdr. Kirk Lippold have been invited to attend the 90-minute event.
The debate is scheduled for 6 p.m. on June 15 at the Boys and
Girls Club in Reno.
The central committee of the state Republican Party is planning
to meet three days later to pick the party's nominee for the Sept.
13 special election ballot.
How candidates are chosen is pending an appeal before the Nevada
Supreme Court.
This is text from the Angle Campaign regarding today's announcement:
Sharron Angle was the first candidate to announce her intentions to run for Nevada’s Second Congressional District, a district she narrowly lost in 2006 and carried by eight points in her Senate bid against Harry Reid. While others have speculated on what Angle may decide, Angle has been relatively silent since the resignation of Senator John Ensign and the appointment of Dean Heller to the Senate forcing the special election. Today she made the following announcement:
“Current outcomes concerning the special election have made this election in Nevada an illegitimate process that disenfranchises the electorate. Clearly, no solution that the Supreme Court can make will correct the injury to free and open elections caused by ambiguous laws and subsequent lawsuits.
“I do not have any desire to participate in a process described by others as a “ballot royale” or a situation where the party central committees choose their nominees because it makes a mockery of the most important constitutional element in exercising freedom. Voter participation has been preempted in either case by disallowing primary elections, or in allowing a select group of people to make a decision who otherwise would not be allowed to vote in Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District. The longer this drags out the more it will become a contest of bank accounts and negative campaigning based on personal attacks instead of the important issues that face Nevada and our country.”
“Although I do not intend to participate as a candidate in the special election, I am not ruling out a future run for office. Meanwhile, I will remain busy working as an advocate for the voters of Nevada and this great nation. I thank all my supporters for their dedication and encouragement. I will be making additional announcements soon detailing my plans.”

Now I know WHY Nevada is in a disaster state after reading these comments. You are a herd of sheep with no back up for your voice!!!! GO SHARON more conservatives view points is WHAT WE NEED!!! I'm really sick of the SPEND - TAX - BORROW. Big Government Liberals are not the ANSWER
"Negative campaigning based on personal attacks instead of the important issues that face Nevada and our country," was the main driving force behind Sharron Angles campaign. This is just another example of Sharron Angle speaking out if her ***. The best thing for her to do would be keep her mouth shut. She probably would have got more votes last election by not saying a world at all. I went to many political gatherings last election year, and met many of the canidates face to face. Sharron Angle was the ONLY candidate who was to busy to shake my hand or take my question. I know Harry Reid isn't the greatest politician, but at least he had enough respect to shake my hand and ask me if I had any concerns. Personality and humility are two good traits a politician should have. Sharron Angle lacks both, and above most she lacks common sense, which is the most impoortant tool not only a politician but an individual should have.
Thank goodness ... and I hope she stays out. Regardless of party affiliation, we need intelligent, thinking people in these positions of power. Sharon has demonstrated to my satisfaction (or dissatisfaction) that she is neither of these.
