FERNLEY, NV - Interstate 80 has reopened in Fernley after what officials are calling a suicide attempt.

It happened around dusk Friday in the eastbound lanes of I-80 near mile marker 46. Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Dave Gibson says a man on foot was in the travel lanes when a semi-truck hit him.

A medical helicopter landed on the freeway to take the man to a hospital in Reno. No word on the man's injuries or current condition.

Trooper Gibson says this appears to be a suicide attempt. Emergency crews were able to clear the road quickly.
