RENO, NV - “Nobody had a problem with him, well liked by everybody, never wanted to start anything with anybody, just a nice guy,” says Clay Keith.

That’s how the 19-year old Keith describes his long time friend Jared Hyde.

He says for nine years he and a group of friends would hang out at their apartment complex on Offenhauser Drive in Reno.

Jared played football, and graduated from DaMonte Ranch High School.

He later moved with his family to Lemmon Valley, and it was off of Lemmon Drive last Saturday night where law enforcement says Jared was beaten to death at a party at the motocross track.

“Just the morning of Sunday, there were a couple of posts on Facebook and I thought someone was joking. And after there were 100 posts and you have friends calling you. It was wow this is real,” says Keith on how he found out about the death of his friend.

Keith says the news came as a shock to everyone.

Jared he says had many friends.

They camped, fished, and his friends say they enjoyed his company.

“He was at a party. There should be plenty of people with information that haven't come forward--and they need to. Someone out there knows what happened and they need to speak up and find the person who did this,” says another friend David Holloway.

Jared Hyde leaves behind his parents, two sisters and a brother. A memorial service is pending.
