RENO, NV - Washoe County Search and Rescue found and rescued all five missing skiers and snowboarders who got lost after they went out-of-bounds at Mount Rose Ski Resort.
There were actually two groups who got lost around the same time.
According to Sgt. Ralph Caldwell of the Washoe County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Unit, they got a call around 3:30 pm on Monday from a group saying they were missing in the valley. They had apparently skied and snowboarded off of Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe property.
Around the same time, search and rescue also learned that another group of two snowboarders was lost. These two had also skied off the resort property, but went missing in the Sheep's Flat area.
WCSO sent 27 people out and a Raven helicopter to help find the missing. All were picked up and accounted for within 3 hours, thanks to constant communication via cell phone. Officials are not releasing the skiers and snowboarders' identities.
