RENO, Nev. -- Washoe County search and rescue crews helped two people in distress near Tahoe Meadows early Monday evening.
Washoe County officials say they initially received a call from the girlfriend of a hiker on the Tahoe Rim Trail who was not feeling well. Crews met him on the trail and he was able to make it to Tahoe Meadows on his own power. He was a little dehydrated but refused medical help and went home with family members.
At almost the same time, officials got a call from an elderly female hiker who was on nearby Relay Peak Road. Because they were already in the area, they reached her relatively quickly. Crews got medical help to her while she was still on the trail. She was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
Throughout the two searches, crews worked out of Tahoe Meadows; Raven was also sent up to help.
