CARSON CITY, Nev. - The Salvation Army of Carson City is hosting a three-week Back-to-School backpack and school supply drive ending August 6. The items will be distributed to underprivileged children in the Carson City area.
The Salvation Army is seeking basic supplies like backpacks, pencils, pens, paper, crayons, rulers and calculators.
"We are looking to see if the public can support us in this campaign," Lt. Mark Cyr, Salvation Army Carson City Corps Officer. "When it comes to school, there are many parents in Carson City who are not able to afford the bare necessities for their children. I firmly believe that having the right school supplies are so important in the development of these young students in both their academics and self-esteem. I want them to come back to school prepared and ready for the school year."
