RENO, NV - Saint Mary's is suing Renown Regional Medical Center, claiming Renown is trying to put Saint Mary's Cardiology services out-of-business by holding a monopoly in Northern Nevada.
According to our local paper, the suit alleges Renown withheld contact information for 10,000 cardiology patients from heart doctors who left Renown and went to work for Saint Mary's.
Our local paper also reports Saint Mary's claimed that adds up to more than $10 million dollars a year in lost revenue.
The lawsuit seeks damages and an order requiring Renown to stop "further wrongful conduct."
Renown issued a statement on the lawsuit on Saturday, December 14, 2013 saying "it is unfortunate" that Saint Mary's and eight of its cardiologist "have chosen to attack Renown this way."
Renown says the lawsuit, which was filed on Thursday, December 12, 2013, is "a re-hash of prior legal proceedings."
Renown says over the past months, they've worked to comply with agreed upon settlement provisions to accommodate the cardiologists who left Renown.
Renown finishes their statement by saying the allegations in the complaint "will be appropriately addressed and disposed of in court for the benefit of the community."
