SPARKS, NV - Sparks police and a SWAT team have a man in custody after a 4-hour standoff Thursday morning.
Police tell KOLO 8 News Now police have arrested Ryan Misner at a home near 9th and D street in Sparks.
Misner was found to have an outstanding felony warrant for possession of stolen property. He was also reported to be armed and dangerous. Police had previously received reports that he was armed with a handgun, and he would make the police shoot him when contacted.
SWAT took every precaution as they sent a robot into the house and donned gas masks to smoke the suspect out.
Gas was deployed into the attic area of the house. Several minutes later Misner exited the attic and was taken into custody without incident.
Misner was detained with an empty holster on his person, and a handgun was located in the attic where he had been. He was transported to the Sparks Police Department for interview.
Misner will be booked on the outstanding warrant. Other charges are being determined.
Some streets around the area were blocked off, so avoid the area if you can while police clear the scene.
A tip led police to Misner's location. No injuries reported. According to police, Misner was involved in a standoff a week ago on I Street.
