SPARKS, NV - No charges will be filed after a SWAT situation near Drake Elementary School in Sparks Wednesday.
Sparks police say several neighbors heard a gunshot late in the morning at a house on Galleron Way, just around the corner from Drake, which is on 4th Street. Police got there and talked to a woman who lives there and got her out safely. They weren't able to be in touch right away with the man who lives there, so they brought in SWAT and worked to talk him out. The school was put on lockdown as a precaution.
After about two hours, the man showed up at the door and was escorted out by police, but police found no evidence of a shooting or any other crime. Police say the man has a history of mental illness.
A lockdown is also over at Billinghurst Middle School on Chesterfield Lane in Reno. There was a police search for a "suspicious person" in the neighborhood, but they didn't find anybody, saying he may have been a door-to-door salesman.
