DAYTON, NV - Three teenagers went to a hospital after a car accident on Dayton Valley road in Lyon County Friday afternoon.

Just after 3:30pm, Lyon County Sheriff's Office personnel say they responded to calls of an accident near Rancho Road in Dayton. When they arrived they found a Toyota SUV had gone off the road. A 16-year-old was driving and the two passengers were 15.

One of the passengers was thrown from the vehicle. That person had head and neck injuries and was taken to Renown Medical Center in Reno by Careflight.

The driver and the other passenger were taken to Renown by ambulance. Both had head and neck injuries. None of the teenagers' injuries are thought to be life-threatening.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is taking the primary investigative role. Neither alcohol nor other drugs appear to be involved, although excessive speed may be a factor. No word on whether or not the teenagers were wearing seat belts.
