RENO, NV - At least one hiker was flown to a hospital Saturday after a backcountry rescue.
Washoe County Search and Rescue and the RAVEN helicopter were initially sent to find a person who had called 911 reporting to be hurt in the Mt. Rose area. According to Careflight, the victim was one mile east of Relay Peak.
When helicopters got there, two victims, who had slipped and fallen during a hike, used a colored poncho to get the pilots' attention, according to a Calstar spokesman. He says Calstar took one victim to Renown in Reno for treatment and Careflight transported the other.
Careflight says only Calstar transported somebody.
