RENO, Nev. - Two men are in custody, accused of ramming an unmarked police vehicle and nearly pushing it into two detectives.

Police say Wednesday, they were following the car of a repeat offender when the vehicle pulled into a shopping center on Sutro Street.

Officers with the Northern Nevada Repeat Offender Program say they left their vehicle and approached the suspects when the driver sped up in reverse and rammed the police truck.

The suspects' vehicle then sped forward, jumped a sidewalk in front of businesses, and fled.

No citizens or officers were injured. The suspects' van was later found abandoned.

Thursday afternoon, after a day of investigating and Secret Witness tips, police arrested Christian Ayala and Michael Howard. Ayala is charged with 2 counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon against an Officer, Obstructing and Resisting an Officer with the Use of a Deadly Weapon, Probation Violation and a Failure to Appear Warrant.
