RENO, NV - John McCarty is an inventor. As president of Lux Dynamics, he's created energy efficient lighting fixtures that are used by universities all over the country.

"We developed an entirely new way to make a light fixture," he says. "To save energy and go after the green movement."

He's used to thinking out of the box. It's that kind of creativity that has not only helped him invent new products, but put people to work - who would normally have a tough time.

"We've partnered with a non-profit organization to employ the handicapped and mentally disabled," he says. "They employ 85 people. A lot of people would consider them unemployable."

McCarty has actually developed his fixtures in a way that makes it easy for those workers to put together. He says those workers have been critical to the success of his 3-year-old business.

Now, Lux Dynamics has the attention of the White House. John McCarty has been invited to attend a Business Leaders Forum that will be held this Friday at the White House. At the forum, he'll be able to discuss - with other selected business owners - what the White House can do to fix the troubled economic situation we're in and create jobs. So what will McCarty tell the Obama administration?

"Let enterpreneurs do what they do best. Get out of their way. We know what to do. We know how to create jobs. We know how to make businesses sustainable," says McCarty.

McCarty says the White House has invited about 100 other business leaders from around the country to take part in the discussion. The White House has not said if the President will be attending.
