FERNLEY, NV - The weekend death of a Reno man is being investigated as being related to possible hypothermia.
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office reports 46-year-old Tomylee Leighton was one of several people who got stuck in a creek in a pickup. That happened Saturday afternoon in the Desert Creek area of Smith Valley. Search and Rescue crews were sent out and able to rescue two men, two women and a child, but Leighton was found dead at the scene.
Rescuers suspect hypothermia and other pre-existing medical issues contributed to his death, but autopsy results aren't available yet.
