RENO, Nev. (AP) - A 54-year-old repeat offender in northern Nevada who recently was convicted of his 14th felony will spend a minimum of the next 20 years in prison.
Washoe District Judge Brent Adams sentenced Robert Fluker to 20 to 50 years on Thursday for a pair of robberies in March 2010 - the latest in a criminal history spanning 35 years.
Fluker pleaded guilty earlier this year to threatening and robbing an elderly change attendant at a Reno grocery store. That same night he simulated having a handgun and tried to rob a liquor store.
Police say he struggled with the clerk and stabbed him. But the clerk hit Fluker with a baseball bat and was able to detain him. The clerk recovered from a non-life threatening stab wound.
