Reed's Williams, Fallon's Wilson Reach Finals at Olympic Trials

RENO, NV - It was a good day for locals at the Olympic trails, with two northern Nevadans reaching the finals.

Reed high school's Gabby Williams was one of just eight athletes to clear six feet in the women's high jump. She'll compete in the finals this weekend. The 15-year-old is looking to become the youngest high jumper to make the Olympic team since 1972.

Fallon's Aarik Wilson finished third in the triple jump. Wilson was the number one qualifier for the 2008 Beijing games. Wilson will also be back on Saturday for the finals.

Spanish Springs graduate Jake Dalton wrapped up the day fifth overall in gymnastics. He came in first in the vault and third in the parallel bars. Dalton will compete again on Saturday. Five gymnasts will be chosen by a committee to represent the USA in London this summer.

Reno's Michael Weiss failed to qualify for the semifinals in the 200-meter breastroke. He finished seventh in his heat with a time of 2:19.88. That was about six seconds slower than the top qualifier. Weiss will swim in the 200-meter individual medley on Friday.
