ELY, Nev. -- The 4,600-acre wildfire northeast of Ely is under control. Firefighters fully contained the Range Fire on Friday, July 6.
The fire first started in the early afternoon on Monday, July 2, about three miles northeast of Ely. It was burning in steep, rugged terrain and fueled by desert trees, grass, and sagebrush.
No homes were threatened. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Fire officials say that Ely and McGill residents may occasionally see smoke in the higher elevations and wind-driven ash and soil in the lower elevations.
