Pyramid Lake Tribal Council Chairman Passed Away

PYRAMID LAKE, Nev. -- The head of the Pyramid Lake Tribal Council has died, and his death remains a mystery.

Wayne Burke was found dead on Sunday in Nixon. Tribal Police tell us they don't think foul play is involved, but are waiting for the results of an autopsy to get the exact cause of death.

Burke was recently appointed to the Nevada Commission on Tourism by Governor Sandoval. He was also a well-known advocate for Native American Veterans.

Tribal Vice Chairman Mervin Wright Junior will succeed Burke as Tribal Chairman through the end of the year.
