Purse Theft Turned Robbery in South Reno

One woman is in custody and two other suspects are on the loose after the trio tricked and stole a purse from a female victim at a store in south Reno Sunday night.

According to the Reno Police Department, 36-year-old Michelle Winship and two others approached the victims inside Wal Mart at 4855 Kietzke Ln at 9:00 p.m. The lone male suspect distracted them while the two females snatched a purse and took off.

The victims followed the suspects out into the parking lot. As the suspects were escaping, one of the victims was hit by a shopping cart. They suffered only minor injuries.

Winship was arrested by patrol officers, while the other two suspects are still on the loose. They are listed as an adult black female in her 30's, last seen wearing a black sweatsuit and white T-shirt and an adult black male, tall with a thin build last seen wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and a grey hat.

There is a $1000 reward for information leading to the suspects' arrest. Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspects should contact the Reno Police Department at 334-2115 or Secret Witness at 322-4900, or text the tip to 847411 keyword-SW.
