RENO, NV - Reno police say a standoff with a burglary suspect has ended with the suspect escaping from an apartment complex in the 1600 block of Wedekind Road.

Police say they spotted the man outside the Silver Terrace apartments and he ran into a unit to elude police around noon Monday. The residents in the apartment, including a woman the man knew, ran out, and police believe he holed up inside, leading to a SWAT team and negotiators working to get him out. The complex was evacuated and the block barricaded to keep the public safe.

Miguel Rodriguez-Franco has a violent past and a felony warrant out for his arrest, but was gone by the time police went in several hours later.
