LOVELOCK, Nev. (AP) - Police in northern Nevada are investigating what a report says could be the first slaying in the town of Lovelock since 1993.

Lovelock Police Chief Mike Mancebo (man-SEE'-bow) says the death of 55-year-old Emigdio Herrera is being investigated as suspicious. An autopsy is scheduled Wednesday.

Mancebo says Herrera's body had head wounds when it was found at
a spot across the street from the Pershing County sheriff's office.

Herrera ran a recycling business out of a former bar called La Fiesta Cantina.

The Nevada Department of Public Safety and Washoe County crime
lab are investigating.

Lovelock is about 90 miles northeast of Reno.
