After a clerk pointed police in the right direction, a robbery suspect allegedly responsible for a recent armed robbery spree, was taken into custody, fighting all the way.
It happened around 8:58 p.m., Wed., when a Sparks police officer was flagged down by a clerk from the Sparks Food and Discount Liquor store on Victorian Square.
The clerk pointed in the direction he saw the suspect flee. A block away from the store, suspect Robert Davies was located getting into the passenger seat of a car that then attempted to leave the area.
Police stopped the car and held the driver and passenger, Davies, at gunpoint.
Davies was uncooperative with police and refused to obey commands. He was eventually taken into custody after a brief struggle with officers.
Video surveillance at the store along with evidence found inside the car identified Davies as the robbery suspect. An undisclosed amount of money was also found to be in his possession and was also recovered.
According to police, after a visit to Washoe County jail, detectives were able to link Davies to five additional robberies that occurred in Reno.
