SPARKS, Nev. -- At least two people injured by gunfire following during a domestic argument in Sparks this afternoon. Police responded to the call of shots fired around 2:30, tonight, the incident is under investigation as an officer involved shooting.
"We walk through this entire neighborhood, we jog around and it's always seemed pretty safe, everyone seemed pretty friendly," Kelly Dye, a neighbor said.
Reports of shots fired in this quiet neighborhood brought a rush of sirens and police presence to their street. According to several witnesses, two women were arguing in the street when one of them aimed a gun at the other. They say, when Sparks Police arrived on the scene, officers took aim at the shooter.
"It's always a little surprising, but you know you come in, it is what it is and kind of get home," she said.
As with every officer involved shooting the investigation has been handed off to another agency, the Reno Police Department taking the lead on this case.
At this time, they are not giving any comment on the situation and the extent of injuries are unknown at this time.
"Anything can happen anywhere, no matter where you live. You can live in the safest neighborhood, gated communities have murders all the time and it doesn't really change anything,"
"It is alarming to see it happen in our neighborhood though," Edward Dye, her husband said.
The investigation blocked traffic on Woodhaven Lane for most of the day, but the activity drawing the curiosity of neighbors who say they still feel on edge, that something like this could happen so close to home.
"That makes you just a little more leery. You lock your doors, you keep an eye out, you stay alert and don't turn you back," Dye said.
The name of the officers involved in the incident have not been released. No word on their condition tonight. Based on protocol the officers will likely be placed on administrative leave pending the results of the investigation.

Two people are confirmed to be injured and were transported to the hospital, according to an official with the SPD. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
Scanner traffic indicates a 25-year-old woman was shot in the rear end.
It is unknown how the other individual became injured.
