Polian's Contract Approved by Board of Regents

RENO, Nev. - The Nevada state Board of Regents approved a five-year contract for new head football coach Brian Polian on Friday.

The deal will pay Polian a guaranteed $2.852 million dollars with a base salary of $475,000 per year. He'll receive a raise to $525,000 in 2014. He'll also earn an extra $50,000 per year in personal appearances and media relations, plus $10,000 for hosting school sanctioned events.

The contract also comes with a company vehicle and a country club membership.

Polian can earn extra payments through various incentives, including
$15,000 for making it to a bowl game and an extra $100,000 for a conference title and a berth in a BCS bowl.

This is Polian's first head coaching job. He is a long-time assistant, with stops in Buffalo, Central Florida, Notre Dame, Stanford and Texas A&M.
