CARSON CITY, NV - Two people are in custody after a traffic stop in Carson City that led to a dog being shot and killed.
About 2:15pm Friday, a driver was pulled over when young children were seen jumping around in the car, not wearing seatbelts. The driver was found to have an arrest warrant from California, and while deputies were arresting him, the woman in the car got out of the car with a pit bull.
Sheriff Kenny Furlong says the dog bit a deputy and was shot to death by other deputies. No one else was hurt, and the deputy is being treated for bite wounds.
The driver is being held on the theft warrant from California, with the woman arrested for obstruction. Their names haven't been released. The children will be turned over to other family members or child protective services.
