Pet Adoption Drive Makes Final Push to Reach Goal

RENO, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Humane Society is hoping to find homes for 161 animals by the end of Jan. 1 to meet its goal in the final week of its holiday pet adoption drive..

The society launched its annual Home 4 the Holidays campaign on Nov. 15. The goal of the Reno-area organization was to find loving homes for 1,200 homeless pets.

The Nevada Humane Society will be open for pet adoptions through the New Year's holiday at its shelter located at 2825 Longley Lane in Reno.

New Year's Day, the shelter is open from 11AM-5PM.

Adoption fees are $45 for adult dogs, $10 for adult cats and $30 for kittens under 4 months old.

Senior citizens may adopt pets 6 years old and older for free.
