RENO, NV - Reno police have identified a man whose vehicle they think was involved in the hit-and-run that killed a moped rider in north Reno.
44-year-old Eric Thomas was killed when a gray or silver SUV hit him near McCarran and Northtowne the night of July 7th. The SUV carried Thomas and the moped several hundred feet before they fell loose, and the SUV continued driving. Police think the driver may have left town.
Based on information gathered during the investigation, they think the owner of the vehicle is Candido Aniceto-Trejo, listed as a person of interest.
They believe the SUV is a 2003 Toyota 4-Runner with Nevada License plate 461NLE. The vehicle will likely have damage around its right (passenger side) headlight assembly and the top of the hood.
Anyone with information in regards to the whereabouts of the man and SUV is urged to contact the Reno Police Department Traffic Division at 334-2141, or Secret Witness at 322-4900. There is a $2500 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
