RENO, NV - On Saturday night at approximately 8:52pm, Sparks Police responded to a report of a pedestrian vs. vehicle accident on South McCarran Boulevard just North of Kresge Lane.
When they arrived on the scene they found 35 year old Dennis Holland, a Reno resident, laying in the roadway and unresponsive. Holland was transported to Renown Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The driver that struck Holland, a 36 year old Sparks resident, stayed on scene and was not injured.
The initial investigation indicates that Holland was attempting to cross McCarran Boulevard in an East bound direction in a dimly lit area where there are no cross walks. Sparks Police report the driver was heading Northbound on McCarran and did not seen Holland until the collision occurred. Investigators beleive that alcohol may have played a role and are awaiting toxicology reports on both Holland and the driver.
The Sparks Police Department is requesting anyone who may have seen the accident, or who may have seen Holland or the Nissan pick up prior to the accident, to contact the Traffic Section at 353-2432 or the Detective Section at 353-2225.
