RENO, NV - A Cold Springs Middle School parent believes his stepson was the victim of bullying, but the Washoe County School District views the incident differently.
"My kid got hit in the stomach three times and it was filmed on cameras, on cell phones, and i ain't digging it," says Mike Harris.
Harris believes his 13-year-old stepson was the victim of bullying at Cold Springs Middle School on Tuesday. Harris says his stepson and another boy were involved in a one-time fight. The stepson was unhurt and originally didn't want to press charges, but changed his mind later in the day. The Washoe County School District is investigating the claims, but they say the law doesn't match this incident.
"It has to be a continuous act against another. of threats, harrassment, intimidation, physical violence against another, so it has to be a kind of continuous act," says Mike Mieras.
Mieras says the district takes bullying very seriously, but even if an incident is determined to be a different form of harrassment, they will still take action. the investigation at cold springs is still pending, but Harris' says he won't wait for the outcome.
"We're going to take it into our own hands and we're not going to be afraid and we're going to stand up and say enough's enough. We're going to call the police and put these kids in jail," says Mike Harris.
