RENO, Nev. (AP) - Online voter registration in Nevada is expanding to Washoe County.

Washoe County Registrar Dan Burk says the system launched in Clark County in 2010 should be up and running in the Reno area by mid-April.

It will allow voters to register online or make changes to their information.

To use the system, residents must be at least 18 years old and have a Nevada driver's license or state-issued identification card. During the application process, the signature on file with the Department of Motor Vehicles is applied to the voter's registration record.

Initial costs for Washoe County's online system was paid for by $86,000 in federal funding made available through the Help America
Vote Act.

Burk says the system will be easier and save the county time and money.
