FERNLEY, NV - One person is dead after a rollover east of Fernley Wednesday morning. Troopers say the driver may have been drinking before the crash.
The Nevada Highway Patrol says it happened shortly after 7a.m., when the driver rolled a Jeep Cherokee about 19 miles east of Fernley on Interstate 80.
Troopers say it looks like the driver was headed west and drifted toward the center median, then over-corrected, swerved left and right, skidded, and rolled several times.
One passenger, 18-year-old Taylor Barnes, was thrown from the Jeep and died at the scene. The driver, 18-year-old Kevin Mass, and one passenger, 19-year-old Max Talbott, were taken by ambulance to Renown in Reno for what the Highway Patrol says are minor injuries.
All three people are from Grass Valley, California.
The Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating, and anyone with information is encouraged to call Trooper Eric Gallagher at (775) 689-4661 or the Department of Public Safety-Communications Center @ (775) 687-0400 regarding case number NHP-111123205.
