Crews started tearing down the old YMCA building on Foster Drive. The YMCA left years ago and no one has been using the building for some time.

But in a couple of months, crews will start construction on a new 50,000 square foot facility in its place. It will be called the William N. Pennington facility and it will be home to a new Boys and Girls Club. That is slated to open during summer 2014.

Officials estimate the club will serve between 3,000 - 4,000 kids in the community each year. At this point, they have raised enough money to build the facility, but will have to start raising funds to maintain it.
