RENO, NV - "We were watching as soon as they shot him."
Defense Attorney David Houston says he and his staff heard what they describe as popping sounds just outside their office on court street this afternoon.
When they looked out their second story window Houston says they saw Reno Police Officers with their guns pulled on a dark brown compact car.
"Matter of moments before they take a female out of the car, put her in cuffs and walk her down the street. And they took a male out of what I believe was the back seat behind the driver's side and put him out in the street handcuffed and laid him out. It seemed like he had some sort of injury but they walked him off pretty quickly," Houston said.
Houston says the driver of the car was clearly dead, and he was the last person police pulled from the car and laid on the roadway.
Police would shut down Court Street and surrounding avenues and drives as they processed the crime scene.
Reno P.D described the dead man as a suspect.
But they would not elaborate on what happened before the shots were fired--and if those shots were exchanged or came from a single weapon.
What we do know: Another local agency will take over the investigation because its an officer involved shooting.
