Not Too Much Snow, But Plenty of Chill

A lot of people in the Truckee Meadows prepared for a snowy morning commute. For the most part, though, Mother Nature had other plans.

There were few snowflakes in the valley overnight, leading into Tuesday morning. Temperatures were below freezing in Reno, though.

Higher elevations did get snowflakes that stuck. On Mount Rose Highway, officials were requiring chains or snow tires up most of the mountain. During the 9:00 am hour, we saw several large trucks pull over to the side of the highway to chain up.

The fresh powder looked great at Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe. As workers ushered cars of skiers and riders into the parking lot, it started to look a lot more like winter.
