RENO, Nev. (AP) - The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment on an environmental assessment of geothermal energy exploration in Churchill County about 25 miles west of Austin.

Ormat Technologies wants to conduct the Tungsten Mountain exploration project across nearly 5,000 acres of the lease area on public lands in the Edwards Creek Valley.

BLM says the project area itself would cover about 600 acres. It would include construction of new access roads, improvements to existing wells, a total of 27 geothermal wells and one or more water supply wells at one or more drill sites.

BLM is accepting comment through Feb. 28.
