New Food Truck Inspection Website
Reno
The latest in dining is the food truck which boasts a unique or gourmet type menu. And the latest restaurant to enter the field locally comes from Dish Café. If you think such an undertaking like this is a piece of cake, talk to the Joe and Nancy Horn.

RENO, NV - This is kind of the end of the road for restaurant owner Joe Horn.

The journey to get his new food truck on the streets will be determined in the parking lot of Washoe County's Health Department.

“I am thrilled we have been waiting for this for a year,” says Nancy Horn.

With investors in line the entire concept almost went up in smoke when the city of Reno decided to change food truck regulations that would have put the Horns out of business late last year.

“Looking at Joe and said, “what are we going to do?” says Nancy

They organized other food truck operators and came to the table with guidelines everyone could live with.

What didn't have to change were health inspection regulations---they were already on the books,

At the inspection, food safety investigators look for food sources, storage, utensils, pluming.

“Opening inspections typically we are looking to see if the refrigeration is working, the hot holding units are working and that they have hot and cold running water. Those are the basics for an opening inspection an initial check of a food truck,” says environmental supervisor Tony Macaluso.

The truck nearly fresh from the factory faces no problems with the inspection.

Within two weeks you'll see this brightly colored truck traveling the streets of the Truckee Meadows.

The county board of health has launched a new website to allow customers to check out entire health inspection histories of food trucks registered in Washoe County.

You'll find that link below this story.

If there are 120-140 food trucks in the area, WHY is this news worthy?? All of those trucks have had health inspections, not to mention every restaurant in Reno. Dish cafe must have a lot of money to have this on every news channel.
