CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Commission on Tourism is
launching an ad campaign to lure winter enthusiasts to the slopes of the Silver State.
Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki says the state's winter sports push is focusing on neighboring California, Utah and Arizona to catch people who want to vacation close to home.
The campaign runs through Feb. 12 and includes TV commercials in
San Francisco, Los Angeles and Phoenix. An online blitz targets Fresno, Calif., Las Vegas, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Diego and Bakersfield.
A bi-weekly sweepstakes on the Travel Nevada Facebook page is offering a chance for hotel accommodations, ski lift tickets and other prizes.
The tourism commission is funded by a portion of the state lodging tax and not by the Nevada general fund.
