McCARRAN, Nev. (AP) - The Food Bank of Northern Nevada is joining a national movement marking September as Hunger Action Month to raise awareness about 50 million Americans who experience hunger.

Northern Nevada's food bank is one of more than 200 centers across the U.S. participating in the campaign.

Organizers say 1 in 5 children in Nevada do not have enough food
for three meals per day, and 1 in 6 Nevadans seeks food assistance
or food stamps.

The food bank worked with Gov. Brian Sandoval's office to declare September Hunger Action Month in Nevada.

Residents can get involved by participating in a region-wide canned tuna food drive and several fundraisers
