RENO, NV - It pays to change lives. The Volunteers of America Family Shelter and the Food Bank of Northern Nevada have changed hundreds of lives and have set a high bar for the challenge.
"Completely changed my idea of what homeless is. Changed my attitude on how to better myself. I didn't have this idea until I became homeless," Stephanie Taitano said.
Stephanie is one of the fund's success stories. She was homeless and pregnant who sought help from the family shelter. Today, Stephanie and her son, Fox, are both self-sufficient. She is a full time student at TMCC and is a part time employee of the washoe county school district. Fox is enrolled in public school
