CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Opponents of a Nevada tax initiative are going back before a judge to try to block the measure being circulated by the teachers union and other labor groups.

A group called Committee to Protect Nevada Jobs argues that Education Initiative is misleading, despite being rewritten once, and is therefore invalid.

The margins tax proposal seeks to impose a 2 percent tax on businesses grossing more than $1 million.

District Judge James Wilson earlier this year ruled the initial measure violated the state's single subject rule for petitions.

Organizers rewrote it and filed a new version with the secretary of state's office.

Wilson will consider the latest challenge Friday.

Supporters need to collect 72,352 signatures by Nov. 13 to keep their effort alive but an adverse ruling could doom their effort.
