Nevada Sales Up in October

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Taxable sales in Nevada rose 4.3 percent in October over the same month last year, marking the 28th consecutive month of modest gains.

The report released Wednesday by the Department of Taxation says Nevada merchants sold $3.7 billion in goods in October on which the state collected $287.7 million in gross sales and use taxes. Revenue collections are up 6.5 percent for the month and nearly 6 percent for the first four months of the fiscal year that began July 1.

Sales in Clark County, Nevada's population hub, rose 5.2 percent in October, while sales in Washoe County that includes Reno fell 2 percent.

Statewide gains were fueled by double-digit increases in sales of durable goods, vehicles and parts, clothing and accessories and accommodations.
