RENO, Nev. -- Lawmakers across Nevada are taking time to thank our nation's veterans, including those from the Silver State.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid issued a statement in which he commended our nation's heroes.
"Bravery and courage come in many forms," Reid stated, "and on this Veterans Day we honor the men and women who have exhibited these virtues in service to our nation and to the American people."
Reid went on to recognize that Nevada has one of the fastest-growing populations of veterans in the nation and say, "When the vitality of our veterans is strong, our communities and our nation is made stronger. I extend heartfelt thanks to veterans everywhere for their significant contributions to our country."
Senator Dean Heller also commended our military men and women. In a statement released Sunday, he said, "My deepest respect and appreciation goes to the brave men and women who have and continue to defend this great nation."
Heller continued with a call to all citizens to never forget those men and women who not only served but gave their lives in sacrifice to help keep our nation safe.
"The character and courage of our military men and women, past and present, is what has made our nation so great." Heller stated. "Thank you for your service and everything you have given."
Sunday morning, Governor Brian Sandoval tweeted, "Happy Veterans Day. Thank you to all our veterans who have so bravely served our country! We are grateful for your service."
The Governor attended a Veterans Day event earlier in the weekend about which he tweeted, "Honored to attend last night's Marine Corps Ball in Reno! Thank you for your service."
