Nevada Division of Forestry Seeks $3.9M for Costs

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Division of Forestry is asking for $3.9 million in contingency funds to cover expenses from a busy fire season and projected costs through the end of the fiscal year.

The request will be considered by the Board of Examiners, which meets Tuesday in Carson City.

Hundreds of thousands of acres have burned in Nevada since Jan. 1.

A lackluster winter followed by this year's hot, dry summer left vegetation across Nevada's vast rangelands tinder dry and extremely vulnerable to fire.
