RENO, Nev. - Saturday and Sunday, March 9-10, those in the vicinity of the Nevada Air National Guard base in Reno can expect to hear explosive sounds and see Nevada Air Guardsmen wearing chemical protective gear and carrying unloaded weapons.
This activity is part of the routine training required in preparation for the unit's Operational Readiness Inspection scheduled for early summer.
A bird cannon will provide the explosive sounds. Although
loud, the bird cannon will not fire projectiles. There is no danger to
persons or property in the vicinity.
The Nevada Air National Guard base is located at 1776 National Guard Way in Reno, just south of the Reno-Tahoe International Airport.
