The NIAA has canceled all outdoor activities for this weekend. The smoke was deemed too dangerous for the student-athletes, coaches, and fans.
This ban is in effect for Mono, El Dorado, Douglas, Carson, Lyon, Storey, Churchill and Washoe Counties.
Some games, if possible, will be made up at a later date. Others, especially non-league games, will not.
Several schools have decided to change their home games to road games instead this week.
McQueen will play at Nevada Union on Friday. Reed will play at Foothill, and South Tahoe has moved their game against El Dorado to Placerville.
Other schools will have neutral site games. Hug will face Carson on Saturday at 1pm in Lovelock. North Valleys will play Damonte Ranch on Saturday at 1pm in Winnemucca.
The NIAA will allow schools to play games outside of the effected counties, but those areas must have an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 50 and below. Reno's AQI was 180 last night at 7pm. It was down to 71 at 2:30pm today.
The Silver Stage - Whittell game has been called off. That game will not be made up.
