RENO, NV - Zucchini is a darling four-month-old kitten with rare Ectrodactyly formation of her front feet. As you can see from her photos, her front paws are missing a middle toe, giving them a unique look. She is now looking for a loving home to call her own.

“Zucchini has no idea that her paws are different and she gets around just fine and plays like any normal kitten,” said Vonice Reed, cat care manager for Nevada Humane Society.

“She is friendly and sweet and loves toys.”

Found among a litter of kittens and surrendered to Nevada Humane Society, Zucchini is the only one in her litter with this rare Ectrodactyly paw formation.

Ectrodactyly is described as the absence of one or more central digits of the hand or foot or in this case, paw. It’s a rare genetic occurrence in humans, dogs and other species.

Zucchini was very young when she and her siblings arrived at Nevada Humane Shelter and has been in a foster home for several weeks. She and her siblings have been spayed or neutered and are now ready for adoption. Despite her disorder, she romps and plays like any other kitten. Her adoption fee is $60 and she has been vaccinated and microchipped.

June is national Adopt a Cat Month and Nevada Humane Society is celebrating it with a CAT MOB promotion, inspired by the nationwide trend of Cash Mobs to support local businesses. Adult cats are available for adoption for a price you choose, and when you adopt a cat you also get a free Cat Mob T-shirt. Kittens like Zucchini can be adopted for $60. Adult dogs (4 months and older, excluding specially priced dogs) are just $40.
